ZOOMING IN ON EUROPEAN DONOR COUNTRIES : RANKING OF SRHR DONORS

When looking at SRHR as a percentage of ODA, the Netherlands (5.38%) was the top European donor in 2022, followed closely by Luxembourg, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Iceland (> 4%). Interestingly, two out of these top SRHR donors (Luxembourg and Sweden) also reached the long-pledged commitment to allocate 0.7% of their Gross National Income (GNI) to ODA. However, the SRHR champions in 2022 were seen to outperform countries with substantially larger ODA budgets (eg. Germany and France). As in previous years, donors that were the furthest away from the 0.7% target spent a very low percentage of ODA on SRHR. The map also clearly indicates that in 2022, there was a difference between north and south, with the countries in the north of Europe generally spending a higher percentage of their ODA on SRHR.
